Europe's largest B2B annual event for sustainable transformation, the IMPACT FESTIVAL, is returning for its third edition on 13 and 14 September in Germany with top-class speakers to provide visitors with inspiration, knowledge and concrete solutions for embracing a sustainable economy.

The two-day event will present keynote speeches, panel discussions, start-up pitches and performances on three main stages focusing on the six innovation areas derived from the EU Green Deal and the Sustainable Development Goals.

Speakers will include Dr Med. Eckart von Hirschhausen, delivering a keynote on "Healthy Earth - Healthy People. What we can now achieve with assets - and what it costs us to do nothing".

Sustainability expert Maja Göpel will discuss the meaning of value in the 21st century, while Godo Röben, former managing director of vegan food production company Rügenwalder Mühle will share his vision on the future of food.

The IMPACT FESTIVAL offers knowledge exchange, networking and inspiration to innovators to embrace sustainability.

Visitors can also expect networking sessions, the next edition of the IMPACT AWARD, music performances, and how an artist will create a live art object from banners and signs used in the previous two IMPACT FESTIVALs.

Different tickets are available for students, businesses and investors to join the event.

The event first took place in 2021 and has grown into a movement that offers opportunities and content all year round as a platform for key stakeholders of the sustainable transformation to network and exchange ideas.

The IMPACT FESTIVAL is a project of the neosfer GmbH, an early-stage investor and innovation unit of Commerzbank Group that investigates future technologies relevant to business and society while promoting and developing sustainable and digital solutions.

The IMPACT FESTIVAL offers targeted networking and knowledge exchange for start-ups, investors and companies to accelerate sustainability innovation on 13-14 September 2023 in Germany.

For the third annual event, organisers aim to highlight innovative solutions provided by start-ups and scale-ups that can contribute to sustainable development and economic growth.

Two days for entrepreneurs and citizens in Berlin to discuss and discover impactful solutions for green cities.

The third edition of the Zero Waste Berlin Festival takes place from the 16-17th of September at Engelnest, Berlin, to present impactful solutions for green minds.

The two-day event aims to bring together entrepreneurs and citizens to discuss and discover new solutions to build sustainable and zero waste cities.

Topics covered by over 60 speakers focus on the main aspects of creating future cities, such as sustainable food systems and urban lifestyle, mobility and technology, among others.

“We want to create a space where entrepreneurs, companies and people can meet, learn from each other and find resources – Berlin is the perfect place for it,”

says Coral Ruz, Founder of the Zero Waste Berlin Festival.

On the first day, entrepreneurs, companies, institutions and investors will gather to connect and exchange ideas helping the shift to make cities more sustainable.

Keynote speaker of the event, Kilian Kaminkski, co-founder of Refurbed, the fastest growing online marketplace for refurbished products, will address attendees with a presentation focusing on why „The future is Circular Economy’.

The second day will focus on citizen engagement in transforming cities and zero waste movements.

Participants can attend conferences, and masterclasses, meet with brands, enjoy an immersive networking experience with the Green Networking Party and meet with local artists thanks to the collaboration with the Berlin Music Commission.

“In curating this year’s programme, our aspiration has been to highlight inspiring and solution-oriented projects across the private, public, and civic sectors,”

shared Therese Sivertsson, Program Manager of the festival.

Speakers include Franziska Voß from BSR, Frieder Söling from Noch Mall, Ana Milhazes from Zero Waste Portugal and many more.

The day will close with Positive Planet Kino; a full program of short films and documentaries addressing the future of the planet with a positive approach.

The first edition of the Zero Waste Berlin Festival was launched in 2019 as a passion project of founder Coral Ruz and has grown into an international movement ever since, reaching more than 40,000 people.

The Berlin Newcomer Startup Award is open for business ideas that are not yet on the market.

The Berlin Newcomer Startup Award 2021, managed by Singa Business Lab, is looking for newcomers with great business ideas who are not yet on the market.

Early-stage businesses that are on the verge of turning their concept into reality, but who may still be lacking capital, contacts or advice can apply for the award to receive support and get recognised.

With digital event formats ranging from Q&A sessions and networking events to the pitches at the award show, organisers want to enable more people to get involved.

The winner of the award can access up to 10.000€ seed capital, and additional coaching budgets, while the amount of seed capital in total is 27.500€ to be split between finalists.

Besides finalist projects get to enjoy more visibility and opportunities for networking and co-creation sessions.

Applications can be submitted online by the end of 2nd November.

Eligibility criteria to apply for the Berlin Newcomer Startup Award:

Live in Berlin, Germany.
Moved to Germany within the last 8 years, i.e. in 2013 or later.
The applicant has the nationality of one of the countries from the DAC List of ODA Recipients.
Aged over 18 years.

The six finalists preselected by the jury will be presented on the award's website for 2 weeks where public can vote on their favorite project.

Winner of the public voting will we rewarded with an extra prize of 5.000€ and 2.500€ additional budget for coaching and consulting.

The Climate Bet campaign was initiated by the association "3 fürs Klima", which motivates and supports people to achieve the Paris Climate Agreement target’s on an individual level today.

The campaign aims to demonstrate that citizens do not only demand global responsibility for improved climate protection but are also willing to act. Their goal is to bring the voices of 1 million people and their 1 million tons of saved CO2 to the UN Climate Change Conference (COP26) in Glasgow in November 2021.

The members of the "3 fürs Klima" association commit themselves to a climate-neutral life and implement this goal with the 'Triad for the Climate': Reduce one's own carbon footprint, compensate for the rest and finally take others with them on the path to a climate-neutral society in order to increase one's personal handprint.

Summer cycling tour will be visiting 200 cities in Germany over 100 days to save tonnes of carbon emission.

The initiator of the climate activist campaign ‘The Climate Bet’, Dr. Michael Bilharz, is set out to cycle 100 days and cover 6,000 km across Germany this summer to engage people in climate protection.

The cycling tour takes place between June 23rd and October 3rd, visiting 200 cities with an emblematic cargo bike.

Organisers aim to use the element of fun to show that everyone can contribute to climate protection and save the next ton of CO2.

"When working for climate protection, a lot of frustration can accumulate.

That's why fun should not be neglected.

Sport is exhausting but also fun and healthy.

Climate protection is less exhausting than we think, extremely healthy because it safeguards life and can be fun.

The campaign aims to demonstrate that citizens do not only demand global responsibility for improved climate protection but are also willing to act.

Their goal is to bring the voices of 1 million people and their 1 million tons of saved CO2 to the UN Climate Change Conference (COP26) in Glasgow in November 2021.

Bilharz adds: "That's 1.5 per cent of the German population - it can be done, and it would be an impressive sign for climate protection.

To do this, we show what possibilities everyone has to save the next ton of CO2 quickly and effectively."

The Climate Bet is the most extensive activation and participation campaign of its type for better climate action initiated by the German association '3 fürs Klima e.V.'.

Citizens are encouraged to get involved with the summer tour by cycling alongside the Climate Bet team, participating in talks in their own city, and spreading the word about the campaign.

Organisers are also calling on all 200 cities they visit to launch their dedicated municipal Climate Bet actions.

They can mobilise their inhabitants and save tons of CO2 in their climate bet.

Cities such as Aachen, Haan, Potsdam and Backnang have already joined and started to promote climate protection actions as part of their commitment.

People can get involved in two easy ways to show their support by choosing to log their own carbon emission savings on the campaign’s website or donate the equivalent of one tonne CO2 offsetting to certified carbon projects.

The website also offers users options to learn more about how to reduce carbon emission in their everyday life in a playful way, using CO2 avatars.

"Just save the next ton of CO2 and stop resting on the sofa of all the ‘buts’. That's what the climate bet is all about,“

The second annual Zero Waste Berlin Festival (ZWB Festival) will be back on 17-19 September 2021 at Malzfabrik in Berlin to welcome people interested in the Zero Waste movement, Circular Economy and Sustainability.

The ZWB Festival aims to provide a space for citizens, impact entrepreneurs and key players to create transformative changes in their everyday life and business.

Organisers are offering a great variety of programmes on-site and online, creating a space for citizens and professionals to learn and network, with the hope of building a greener future together.

All live events will take place at the iconic location of Malzfabrik in Berlin, a place shaped by creativity and culture, standing out through its environmentally conscious set-up.

There will be seven main categories at the event, focusing on Green Cities, Green Tech, Sustainable Fashion, Lifestyle, Sustainable Food Systems, Activism, and Self-Care.

Ruz adds: “This year we will feature well-known inspirational speakers from different fields, such as Alina Bassi, Founder of a textile recycling company, Kleiderly and Forbes 30 Under 30 in 2020; Sophia Hoffmann, zero-waste chef and activist; David Johannes, co-founder of the first zero-waste restaurant in Germany; and Alexander Piutti, serial entrepreneur and angel investor committed to social impact.”

The ZWB Festival was founded by a Spanish project manager living in Berlin, Coral Ruz.

When she realised that no international zero waste groups were holding regular events in Berlin, she decided to create a Meetup group called Zero Waste Berlin International in May 2019.

The ZWB Festival grew from there as a result of this constantly growing movement.

Since then, the start-up has held ten events and reached more than 40,000 people.
